just catching you up quickly...

i have a VERY brief window of blogging time due to coming back late because of traffic and we are heading out to navy pier very soon to have dinner (i am hoping for bubba gump shrimp) and watch fireworks.

and let me just say that today was AWESOME! Praise God for His faithfulness and His sense of humor because...

...the second concert was held outside (due to nowhere large enough inside to hold all of us AND all of the people that wanted to hear us sing) SO pam had a BRILLIANT idea for the residents to stay inside and open their windows to hear the youth sing. it was pretty funny to be singing to a wall and some open windows. but it was BEAUTIFUL outside and the kids sang so loudly that all could hear just fine with that set up.

the "feed my starving children" ministry was so meaningful for all of us. and it all started with us ALL having to put on hairnets... oh yes i have photos... lots of photos.

we learned that every 4 seconds someone dies of starvation. and we saw photos of kids who were starving and then photos of how they looked just WEEKS after starting to receive a steady diet of food prepared by "feed my starving children". what a difference! and we were so blessed to be able to make a small difference today. our group bagged enough food to feed 48 children for a YEAR! and we did it while singing and dancing to "i will survive" and "fill me up buttercup" and other oldie hits. very fun. very poignant. very special.

i don't think i can upload the 400 photos that i took today before we have to leave, so look for some photos to come your way later this evening... any by later i mean in the wee hours of tomorrow morning most likely.

quote of the day... said by a middle school girl to another middle school girl (who had a beautiful french braid in her hair)... "STOP TOUCHING ME OR I WILL TAKE YOUR BRAID OUT". wow.

  1. Sounds like a very successful day despite the obstacles. I am sure many lives were touched today by our youth.
I can hardly wait to see the hairnet photos! Hope you get that Bubba Gump. Alison was wanting that too.

  2. So toddintally's tweet said the concert was closed with "In This Very Room." Now I happen to love that song, but am I the only one that noticed you weren't even IN a room?

Maybe there's a message of God's onmipresence in there somewhere - or a message that our great big outdoors is just a room to Him.

As always, good work by our youth - wherever they go!

  3. Enjoy your selection of shrimp. as I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it...
Whatever you do, enjoy your meal: 1 Corinthians 10:31-33, Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

  4. Sounds like you had a wonderful day for our Master. Mrs. Creasman and I put the group on our church prayer list tonight at prayer meeting. We are praying for you daily as you go "About the Father's Business"
